The SMCHS Tech Center has a limited number of loaner laptops available for students who need to leave their device for repair or who forgot their device at home. To ensure availability, loaners must be returned at the end of each day (unless you’re waiting for parts). Stop by the Tech Center with any questions.
**IMPORTANT**
Make sure you’re LOGGED IN with Microsoft OneDrive on your CURRENT DEVICE and that it’s syncing RIGHT NOW. This is super important because if your device stops working, you won’t be able to access any files stored only on your device. Logging into OneDrive RIGHT NOW means your files are safely backed up and can be accessed on any loaner device. Please don’t wait until it’s too late! Use the video link to understand what you need to do to ensure your files are online in OneDrive.
As stated above the most IMPORTANT thing is that you have previously logged into One Drive on YOUR laptop as instructed during tablet training.
If you have previously logged into One Drive on YOUR laptop you are all set. All that is required is that after logging into the laptop that you open One Drive and login, as shown in the video above. The loaner will start to sync your files from the cloud and you will be able to access them, open, edit and save them to the cloud.
When you pick up a loaner the Tech Center will require that you login to the laptop and sign into Teams, Office and One Drive and that you can access your files. They will ask you if you have questions and assist you occordingly. They will also tell you if you have any issues with the loaner such as software, hardware or wifi to bring it back to the Tech Center so it can be looked at.

- Lastly, we will contact you when your laptop has been repaired and ready for pickup. You will need to return your loaner at that time.
- I forgot my laptop at home:
- Being Prepared for School and having your device with you when arriving at school is the student’s responsibility. The Tech Center has a limited amount of Loaner Devices and might not be able to loan you a device.
- The student will be asked to call their parents in front of the Tech Center Staff before any device is issued to them if they report they left it at home.
- Your name will be monitored and students who forget to bring their device multiple times will be referred to the Dean’s office.
- Were sorry to hear that you forgot your laptop at home. It’s great to know that SMCHS offers daily loaners to help you out in such situations.

- Lastly, please make sure to return the loaner device by Tech Center closing, which is at 3:30 PM. Failure to do so will result in a detention.
