SMCHS Tablet Program

As a student at Santa Margarita Catholic High School (SMCHS), please be aware that the tablets, laptops, and all associated devices issued to you are and remain the exclusive property of SMCHS and the Diocese of Orange throughout your time in high school.

These devices are provided to support your academic success and must be used in accordance with school policies. Installing unauthorized software, programs, or applications on school-issued devices is strictly prohibited.

Any such action constitutes a violation of the SMCHS Acceptable Use Policy and the policies set forth by the Diocese of Orange. Violations may result in disciplinary action, including the loss of device privileges.

Device lockscreen and wallpapers – All issued SMCHS devices display a custom graphic, this graphic explains that you are on a private network and authrization from SMCHS administration is required to use this system with an assigned User Account. All actions (including current screen image) can be monitored or recorded.

The Tablet you are issued is your responsiblity!

Helpful tips for safe tablet usage:

  • Do not leave your tablet open or unlocked when you walk away.
  • Do not allow others or even friends to stick USB devices into your tablet.
  • Do not allow others to use your tablet.
  • Do not leave your tablet behind.

 

Software

Your tablet is imaged with a standard SMCHS student software loadout. All approved additional software can be found in your filewave KIOSK. 

  • Addtional software that is not located in the KIOSK should be requested here.
  • Addtional Chrome Extensions can be Requested here.

IMPORTANT: If it is not installed on your Tablet or in Filewave, do not try to install it without permission from the SMCHS IT Dept.

 

Compliance: Device Audit Warning

Heads up: All school-issued devices are regularly scanned to verify software compliance and check for unapproved applications.

Any device flagged with unauthorized software is immediately subject to disciplinary action via the Deans’ office. This process will include a comprehensive investigation of the operating system and may result in the complete reimaging of the device.
